Outers Recreation: In Dam, Sturgeon and Benson Lakes 1918
The link below contains another excellent article from 1918 from Outer's Recreation on Manitowish Waters. The description and map of Dam (Vance), Sturgeon and Benson lakes are by far the most detailed account from any journal or article from the era. The reference to Rest Lake Indian camp and the resulting communal business model is fascinating. The map references campsites, cottages and details of submerged stumps on these lakes, suggesting that the process of driving logs modified the lake levels of these lakes, even though they are below the Rest Lake Dam.
