Historic Manitowish River Canoe/Kayak Trip

Join local historian Jim Bokern and a Discovery Center Naturalist on a fun and educational paddle down the Manitowish River.  Great stories and insights  about the rich natural and cultural history of the river will fill our time paddling.  Starting at the historic Rest Lake Dam we will explore historic sites and discover how the Manitowish River was a main travel corridor for 1000’s of years.   The ecologies of the river and surrounding forests also adds to these special stories that are best told on the river.

Participants may bring their own boats or arrange to have a boat provided by the North Lakeland Discovery Center.
