Forest and Stream Weekly Journal of the Rod and Gun 1902: Dam Levels Impacting Fishing

The second page has an important reference to the disruption in fishing by the Rest Lake Dam operation.  This kind of negative reporting certainly incensed resort owners and guides.  With so many famous fishing areas reported in these turn of the century magazines, competition for customers had to be intense among resorts. 

Other details highlighted include two trips to the Manitowish area and a call in Michigan to get monies from licenses to enforce game laws to stop the use of dynamite to harvest fish!  As The Lakeland Times has reported in their archived articles, this practice of using explosives also plagued the Lakeland area as well.
