Join us to learn about Northwoods artisans.  During the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration developed a domestic program of recovery called the New Deal.  A series of agencies was created to help people find employment and bring economic relief to Americans.  Two artists, Frances Badger and Marie Bleck, spent many years immersed in the beauty of the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  They both became accomplished artists who were employed by the Works Progress Administration and the Federal Arts Project.  They were two of 5,000 artists who produced incredible art during the Great Depression.  Join local historian Kay Krans of the Manitowish Waters Historical Society for a presentation about these two incredible women who shared the beauty of Northern Wisconsin through their painting, poetry, and printmaking.
