The "Growing Up At Alder Lake"   journal was created in 1991 by members of the Robert Loveless family

The Robert Loveless family have created an insightful journal of the earliest days of Manitowish Waters.  Addtionally, this journal written from the point of view of family members growing-up on the Loveless property document both the early family history, as well as the development of the Virgin Forest Park and Highway 10 properties. Important dates, locations and practices from the early 20th century are clearly defined.  One remarkable citation in the document describes a dam constructed at the outlet of Alder Lake to facilitate the swamill on the northwest side of the lake.
