Boulder Beer Bar and Manitowish Waters Historical Society proudly celebrates our Civilian Conservation Corps heritage

Discover the amazing legacies of Northwoods Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps located along the Manitowish River and White Sand and Star lakes. Join Jim Bokern from the Manitowish Waters Historical Society at the Boulder Beer Bar as we celebrate our CCC heritage on Tuesday, November 26.During the Great Depression, thousands of men lived in Northwoods CCC camps, completing environmental reclamation projects and supporting their families with most of their wages. This unique presentation chronicles Camp Mercer, Camp Crystal Lake and Camp Star Lake with pictures, maps and documents. The presentation kicks off at 6 pm.As a special treat, the Boulder Beer Bar has one of the last 1/6 barrels of Camp Mercer 660 limited edition beer from Lake Louie brewmaster Kirby Nelson. Camp 660 beer will be tapped at 4 pm and will go fast! Finally, the chefs at Boulder Beer Bar will create a few CCC entrees from a 1933 Kellogg CCC cookbook for folks to order. Historic food, drink and stories from 90 years ago will provide for a lively evening.
