Camp Mercer Interpretive Trail Hike

August 1 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$25 – $30

Thursday: 1 pm – 4:00 pm

Explore one of the most robust Civilian Conservation Corps camps in the Northwoods with Manitowish Waters Historical Society historian Jim Bokern and a NLDC naturalist while walking on the newest NHAL hiking trail! With 23 interpretive signs and cleared archaeological features, years of research will be discussed while traveling along the Manitowish River. We will discover a variety of the Northwoods’ ecologies and the impact of the CCC on protecting natural resources. Importantly, two earlier river drive era logging camps are also present on the Camp Mercer campus. We have a moderate three-mile trail hike.

Space is limited, so please register early; $30 ($25 for members of the NLDC or MWHS). Register at the North Lakeland Discovery Center (www.discoverycenter.net). For more information, contact the NLDC (715-543-2085 or at [email protected]).  Hike will begin at River’s Edge parking lot.
