Historic Manitowish Waters Crime Pontoon Tour #2 – Morning Tour
Join Kay Krans of the Manitowish Waters Historical Society for a tour of Gangsters in the Northwoods on our comfortable pontoon boat touring the famous Manitowish Waters Chain of Lakes. You will learn how local citizens got involved in the liquor trade and were able to supply bootleg alcohol to Chicago and Minneapolis. Hear the story about the kidnapping of Minneapolis mob boss Leon Gleckman and the place the kidnappers hid him. Ralph Capone has a Manitowish Waters story as well. John Dillinger and his gang were not only at Little Bohemia but made themselves known to several families as they were trying to escape the FBI trap. Join us for a 2.5 hour tour and enjoy the stories and beautiful scenery.
This tour offers a mix of local history and beautiful lake views. The meeting location is Rest Lake. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up early! The cost is $60 ($55 for members of the MWHS or NLDC), and lunch at Little Bohemia is included, either before or after the tour.
